SPEAKER_02I know we never film on a Friday.
SPEAKER_05Typically Mondays, Tuesdays, a little bit of Wednesdays, a little bit of hump days. Probably.
SPEAKER_02A little hump day treat.
SPEAKER_05Well, yes, no. We were on trips. We were traveling. We were having some fun in Branson. Branson, Missouri. Branson.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna be honest, I think that's a one and done trip for.
SPEAKER_05One and done. It's okay.
SPEAKER_02I would not like to return. Not because it wasn't beautiful, but that drive.
SPEAKER_05The drive was awful. We talked about it last episode of how long it took. I think you said 13 and a half hours. Yeah. It was it was 13 and a half without stops. We did stop on the way back. We took our kids to Bucky's for the first time. We went to which was phenomenal. Bucky's is like.
SPEAKER_00I want to go to a Bucky so bad.
SPEAKER_05You're missing out. Whenever you go on any highway, it's like every 10 miles, it lets you know 170 miles away. Bucky is coming up.
SPEAKER_00I see them sometimes when I'm traveling for work, and I'm like, I want a Bucky so bad. But I don't, I don't have enough, like, there's no excuse for me to drive three hours out of my way to go to a bucket.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Right. And then we went to a uh sanctuary. I wouldn't call it a zoo. It was fun. The main thing of the trip was a family reunion. Yes. And we have a family member ourselves with us in studio today. It is my cousin. It is Kayla, a K-A. Kayla Grubbs on Instagram. That's K-A-L-A-A-A. Three A's. Three A's. Grubbs with a Z.
SPEAKER_00No Y.
SPEAKER_05No Y.
SPEAKER_00No Y.
SPEAKER_05No Y. K-A-K-K-A-K-A-L-A. Yes. G-R-U-B-Z.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_05One Z.
SPEAKER_00One Z.
SPEAKER_02All right. I'm hopping into this intro then since Garrett's doing the intro already. You may know her as Kayla Grubbs. Kayla Grubbs. But she's so much more than that to us. Kayla is an incredible chef, our business partner and co-owner of Clink92 Mobile Bar, and most importantly, Garrett's cousin, and now my cousin. She is someone who has built an amazing community by sharing her passion for food, and she isn't stopping anytime soon, whether she's posting honest food reviews, taking on wild food challenges, which we just did at Moonlit Burgers.
SPEAKER_04I'm full.
SPEAKER_02Or showing people that eating clean can actually be delicious and realistic. Kayla has a way of making food fun and approachable. Her passion for what she does shines through and everything she creates, and it's no surprise that so many people love following along. Beyond the video, she's one of the funniest, most genuine, and down-to-earth people we know. We're excited to hear more about her journey, her love for food, and everything she's building along the way. Please help us give a huge, absolutely not welcome to Kayla Varco. Kayla Vargo, also known as Kayla Grubbs.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you guys really do love me. We do love you. Thank you.
SPEAKER_05It was ChatGPT. No, just a little bit of help along the way. It helped me clean it up a little bit cleans it up. Always will. Yeah, cousins. I feel like we could have been doing a podcast since we're like eight years old, but podcasts really weren't a thing then in grandma and pap's basement.
SPEAKER_00Unf I almost said unfortunately. Fortunately, we grew up best friends.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Maybe not even by choice. We were forced to do a lot of things together. And Garrett had a lot of sisters, so he hated me right off the bat. But uh once we got to high school, things kind of changed. We got like super close. We were doing everything together. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Weekends would always be like trips to the movies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Going to like the very Becca Walmart and causing havoc, grabbing into like the five dollar.
SPEAKER_00Game nights, card nights.
SPEAKER_05Game nights, Egyptian rat screw.
SPEAKER_00The dollar movie theater. Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. That's it sold.
SPEAKER_00And play all the new movies for a dollar. And like we're in high school.
SPEAKER_02Do they still do that?
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_02It's probably like eight dollars inflation for the city. Movies that were in the theater and then they stopped being like it was 30, 30 days after it's debuted, and then it would move into the but still that's good for people that like maybe can't afford to go to the real theater, or you're like just wanting something fun to do.
SPEAKER_05And sadly enough, it turned into a luxury cinema. It went the complete opposite direction of cheap.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Might actually be cheaper. I haven't been to that one.
SPEAKER_00I don't take that for granted.
SPEAKER_05No. No. Not one bit. We went to Bel Vernon, but then whenever we did graduate from high school, we became rivals in terms of schools. Slippery room. Slippery rock.
SPEAKER_06This kitchen's not the same without you. Without you.
SPEAKER_05Spongebob VIP table later. That's not on my list. That should be on my list, though. But you went to IUP. I went to Slippery Rock. Yes. You started in small business entrepreneurship as your bachelor's. You did go back for your master's for culinary. So what was the moment that made you realize that this is what I want to be doing?
SPEAKER_00So I always wanted to own a restaurant. It was like my a family thing. We always talked about it. I started like baking, decorating things, always had been cooking. But my dad was like, oh, like go to school. We'll look to open up a business. It'll be great. I went for a small business entrepreneurship and I started working in finance.
SPEAKER_02You're like, I don't know how I get it.
SPEAKER_00And when I say like that, I mean like literally I'm working for a bank. I'm actually in their loan, their mortgage department. And I gotta be honest, it's like five years in, and I'm like, this sucks. I hate this. Like I had no motivation, was like looking for other jobs, but I really didn't know what I wanted, want what I wanted to do. Um, and then actually my dad passes away. Um, and call it like a midlife crisis, even though I was like 25.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, mid-20s.
SPEAKER_00And I called my mom and I said, I hate this. I'm gonna apply to culinary school. And she said, do it.
SPEAKER_02Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I just thought it could be fun. I've always liked to cook and bake, and I was just like miserable, miserable in my job. Like things were just, it was just hard time. Um, but I decided I'm gonna apply. I'm gonna go to culinary school. I'm an IUP alumni. I found out that they had a culinary program, um, and I was like, I'm doing it. I applied, school started a week and a half later. Like I was like very last admit because it was just like so. Um, and I put my two weeks in. Um, and I panicked a little bit because I'm like, how am I gonna pay my bills? It was like it then started to hit me, but I just kind of ran with it. Um, did graduate valedictorian.
SPEAKER_02I was telling Garrett, I'm like, I'm almost positive she was valedictorian.
SPEAKER_00I gave a speech and everything.
SPEAKER_02VIP over here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was really great. VIP at IUP. Ooh, why am I gonna use that now? Yeah, um, but it was the hardest thing I ever did. Culinary school is not for the weak of heart because it is like a contact sport. So um maybe jumping into that during that hard of a time in my life, good and bad, pros and cons, right? Um, it got me through. Um, I would not change it. But it, if you're thinking about culinary school, I can talk to you a lot about it. But it is such a fast-paced environment. I mean, it's mental, it's physical, um, but probably the pivotal point in my life, and I would not change it. Like the best thing I think I've ever done.
SPEAKER_05So thinking back at like the restaurants that you were saying about like family wanting to do your dad was always adamant on puppies, pies, and cream.
SPEAKER_00Yes, still could become a thing. Still could become a thing. And I think about it, you never know. Um, I was talking to, I believe it was my mom not that long ago, and we were just like kind of giggling about puppies, pies, and cream, and it was like his dream of hush puppies, pizza pies, and ice cream.
SPEAKER_05Who doesn't? Interesting men doesn't love the creep.
SPEAKER_00Interesting, interesting menu. Don't take my idea. Yeah. Um, but yeah, it's just something that like we we always joked about that, but we had so many restaurant comment, uh, so many restaurant concepts, but that was the original.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, original. Then there was a church nearby where we grew up at, and it church brewworks pretty much took the idea.
SPEAKER_00I know. They stole that. I wanted it to be theme, kind of like how um in Vegas there's the heart attack grill.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I wanted it to be church theme. So like the nuns were the waitresses. Like I grew up really a drink. The altar boys were the bus bulls.
SPEAKER_02It's served out of like the wine, the gold chalice cup if you order a drink.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what I wanted. Like, and like once maybe like, you know how some restaurants have like, oh, this time we sing, or if they order this, we do something, you know. I wanted them to like the body of Christ. Yeah, okay. Um pass out communion. I wanted that. Um, hey, those still my ideas. That's still gonna be a thing. Um, but yeah, that's what I was hoping for. Maybe you never know. That's what they're saying.
SPEAKER_02I always say anything could happen. You never know where life will take you.
SPEAKER_00I think a theme sells. It's like having a brand, yep, um, a theme restaurant, uh, R.I.P. to the Heart Attack Girl, I guess. I didn't know. It's gone. Well, I don't think they're gone, but I I just read an article. Maybe this is false news, but I hardly reclose it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, they got well that's I don't know. I guess we'll have to look at spanked there. I tried the heart attack girl and I got spanked. If you don't finish the burger in a certain amount of time, or you just don't finish it at all?
SPEAKER_00If you don't finish the meat on the burger, I believe was the thing. But if you don't finish your meal, it's like their thing, you get whacked with a paddle. Yeah. Garrett got whacked so hard the paddle broke. I do have video evidence. Don't they serve you like jello shots out of a syringe? The wine comes in an IV bag. You wear a hospital gown the whole time.
SPEAKER_02I've never been, but I've seen pictures. And like when you look up Vegas, you're like, okay, that's like one of the things you can do.
SPEAKER_00It's just for the experience alone. Everything is fried in butter, cooked in butter. They even make butter milkshakes. You get like a pad of butter. It's a lot. Um, but a theme. It it works, it sells. That I feel that I want more theme restaurants. If anybody knows of a good theme restaurant, can you drop in in the comments so I can creep and know and maybe I'll go visit for my food channel?
SPEAKER_05Yes, that's a good idea. Make it happen.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02All right. So you're still at IUP. Yeah. And you get to do a lot there. I know that you said that it kind of prepared you for life and where it's taking you now. Out of all of your time at IUP working and as a student, what were some of the coolest things that you got to participate in or witness or be a part of?
SPEAKER_00So the coolest things. Um, well, I currently work at the culinary school now. Um, and I travel a lot for them. I work at admissions. I am their entire admissions department. Um so it's a lot of travel. I travel all over Pennsylvania. Um, some of the neighboring states, especially in the spring, we follow the Pro Start competitions for high schools, which is across the United States. All the states that participate, I think there's 48. They host a state competition and then a national competition.
SPEAKER_02Um is this like a cooking competition where like the students are cooking?
SPEAKER_00Yes, high school kids, team of five. They win scholarship money, they win like incredible opportunities in both culinary and management. So there's a management competition where they actually come up with a business concept, like they get critiqued on their menu, on their average. I mean, it's so much. Um I recommend looking into the competition. If you're high school, if you're a high school student or you know somebody that like thinking about Pro Start, like I believe they gave away like it was hundreds of thousands of scholarship money. Like the time that we give scholarships for culinary kids, it's it's super incredible. Um but what I love about I think why it's the coolest thing I think is you know, we go, we support these kids. IUP is a pro start boot camp sponsor, so we host the schools in Pennsylvania that want to come learn how to do it. Um, two of my coworkers are national judges, so they are on the judging team for that competition. Um and it's just seeing these kids have a passion for something like you work so hard. I wish I would have known about like that in high school. You know, they're like extracurricular and like things. Um, but it's like seeing these kids work so hard and like, you know, you come together. Some of these kids don't even know each other before the pro start team is even built. So it's like you're having to jump in, work together, be part of the team, and then you're competing against like tons of other kids, on top of like being with some of the best culinary professionals that are out in the business. And then, like, you know, we're all networking, we're all meshing, we're all learning, we're all coming together. And it's like that opportunity alone, not only to see the kids grow and like, okay, we're giving you money towards school, because you know, that's a whole another thing, like colleges and expense, all that kind of stuff. But it gives these kids who have a passion in something, like a footing to get them out there and successful, which like I love and pride myself on because when you're making those college decisions, sometimes they don't talk about that, or like you're a kid, you don't even know what a semester is when you're filling out, like you don't know, you know. Um, and having this set up, it just like, I know I want to get into culinary arts, or I know I want to get into business, I know I want to get into management. It gives them a setting to like actually conceptualize and idealize an idea and put it out there and then have actual industry professionals say, Hey, good, bad, work on this, focus on this, you know, work on these things, adjust this. That's a good idea. Maybe that's not such a good idea, but it's so constructive and like helping these, you know, future professionals in the industry get out there. So it's probably the coolest thing I've been able to participate in by being employed at IUP and like with the culinary school. It just like it's incredible. I wish I would have had that as a kid going through high school and like I know I like to cook then, but like, you know, I just thought, oh, I'll go for business. Like, I don't really know. Like, yeah, we can do a restaurant. Like, I didn't really have all those ideas worked out before I even started applying for colleges. And I think it sets those kids up in a way that they either think, like, yes, I'm gonna do this, or they get out there and they're like, no, this is not for me. That's also such an incredible thing to learn. Like off the bat, like, yeah, maybe this isn't for me. I just like it as a hobby, or I, you know, I think if we had more, like, even outside the culinary realm, more focus on those professions of like, I love, you know, media or I love cooking or I love singing and theater, like they have dance programs, but it's like really focusing on those things that you love to build once you get out there as an adult. I I just think it's like it'd be such a greater opportunity to like fill those niches, you know, in those different jobs that are out there.
SPEAKER_05Because I even when I started applying at schools, I didn't, I knew in some facet what I wanted to do. It didn't end with what I ended up getting my degree in, but I didn't have any practice on any of that. Like I almost went for theater because I had background in it beforehand, but there's nothing teaching me outside of like how to do recreation or how to do team building or anything.
SPEAKER_00No one really explains to you, and you learn this as an adult, how competitive finding a job can be, or like how competitive life overall sometimes, you know, can be it gets that way even after not after your entry-level job.
SPEAKER_05It's the job after that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and if you want to build, you want to grow, you have to be able to like take control construction criticism. And I think those competitions and things like that, they help so much. Like kids who play sports, you know. I I I also vouch for my my sports players. I I played sports my whole life, but like that helped me grow as a person so much of knowing that like you don't always win. Yeah, and you know, sometimes you might put your best out there and show up correct and go to every practice and you still lose.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, your best isn't good enough sometimes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, your best.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we were kind of average in high school, like all of our athletics. Now they're good, most of them. A lot of them are winning, even like boys and girls basketball, football, football has been all right lately, but like gold turf, whatever. All right, well, as a rock alum, I can only take so much IUP talk. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding.
SPEAKER_00I should have worn an IUP shirt today. You should have.
SPEAKER_05We should have. I would have burned it after. Beyond IUP, we get to share a business with you with Clink92. Whenever this was like a during COVID decision, you were all hype about it, and then you we got you involved, got the wheels turning and such. But what is something that surprised you with owning a mobile bar? I guess this is for everyone to answer too.
SPEAKER_04I got one right that I can answer too.
SPEAKER_00What surprised me is it's work, but I love it. And it doesn't feel like work. And I think that's the best part about owning your own business. It's a double-edged sword because it's your business. Yeah. Right. So you have to be responsible, you have to show up, and it's not like, oh, this is a nine to five I can clock out. Sometimes you're like, ugh, like I don't really necessarily get to let this go. It's like always in the back of your mind. But how much fun we have and the pressure that is there, but almost non-existent because when we mess up, we just crack up. Yeah, we're like, we'll figure it out next time, you know, and then we just keep on moving. And it's not like having a nine to five where you're like so pressured into always having to be, you know, do well, do the right thing, say the right thing. Oh, I messed up. Like then you kind of have anxiety, or like, how am I gonna move? Where we just laugh and have a good time. And I think that's what surprised me the most is I thought I was gonna be like, it's gonna be a lot, anxious, it's on. But then we get out there and they're like, this is fun. Like, we're just having fun. And yeah.
SPEAKER_05I like two of my surprising things. One is just I would when I would make drinks for myself or for others, it was never for a profession. So, like doing that as a profession, it's that I feel like I have that like a imposter syndrome in doing it. Like, are these actually good or are these bad? My main surprise is how like big of an issue tires can be, and how what size you need. Because we would drive. Hey, we're good this year. The season we upgraded, we're all good. No wear and tear on these ones, but that was every single event, they would come back and one of the tires was balding. And it's just an expense. Not anymore. Not anymore. Not anymore. We've been testing it. We've been testing it.
SPEAKER_02I feel like the thing that surprised me the most is how much we're able to change and evolve each season. Because I think back to our very first season taking the trailer out, we literally had no clue what we were doing. We were just flying by. But now that we have our footing, every single event, I feel like we learned something new and we're like, okay, we got to add this in the contract, or it's better if we store things like this. So no glassware. Yeah, no glassware, but like glassware. The ability for us to be adaptable and flexible, I think that has surprised me how much we've changed from the first season to now. And I love it. It is just so fun. It is very labor-intensive, both.
SPEAKER_00I like that we have our staple in like this is the service we provide, but then it's so customizable that you know, we're doing things on the fly. Maybe I'm out in us here, but like she calls me and she's like, Hey, I booked a draft system, and I'm like, You did what? And she's like, Yeah, like a tap wall. You think we can build that already booked?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03We're doing it.
SPEAKER_00We're doing it. Uh uh one of my really good friends. I'm like, hey, you can build stuff, please. Um we got it done, and it's beautiful. And I actually love the tap wall now. Yes. Um, still learning curve, right?
SPEAKER_02But it still gives gives me a little anxiety like before we use it, because I'm just, it's so new to me. But once it's up and running, it is so fun.
SPEAKER_00But now that we've done it a couple times, again, it's like on to the next thing. What else can we do? Like, I feel almost, I don't want to say limitless, but it is though. It is like, and we can do whatever we want. Again, and that's the double-edged sword, is we can also say no to things. So owning your own business, it's like when we've started, we were taking bookings every time. Thursday, Friday, Saturday time. We want to do Sunday. I'm like, like, oh right. Now it's like we're a little bit more leisure now. Yeah. But I mean, it's it's so nice that we have something that's one hours, two, you know, it's not we get to hang out, which I think is also fun because again, we're just giggling the whole time, being professional, but like you get the loltimes where you can just like conversate. Yeah. Which is but then it's yours, you know what I mean. At the end of the day, it's like you got skid in the game, but it's like, why put pressure on myself? Like, we're giving a good service. Everyone always tells us like they love it. They're having like it's beautiful, the compliments we get.
SPEAKER_02I kind of get ego boosts every single time we take her out, and I'm like, it also to me is is very cool that we've had clients in the past that book us that have started now because we're like getting into year six, I think, or five, whatever we are, six, that they're wanting to book again for another kid's graduation party or another birthday party. So to me, I'm like, okay, we did a good job. Like, we're growing, it's positive.
SPEAKER_00I love when they're like, you did my friend's wedding. I'm looking, and I'm like, Yes. Yeah, it's like again, ego boost.
SPEAKER_05It's the the last event that we did. I can cut this though. It's that person, the lady that was with you at the time.
SPEAKER_06It's Kayla working. It's Kayla working.
SPEAKER_00So bad. I was like, I actually texted her and she was like, Oh, I I didn't mean it like that. We were just sad. She's like, I thought you said you were working. And I was like, Oh, I thought he told you. Where were you put it? So we had tickets to Was it a concert? That free concert, Nelly. Oh, yeah. And I was soaking wet. And my like my makeup's done, like today, I had raccoon eyes. It was like dripping down my face because it was just storming. I mean, we we made the best out of it, it was fun. Um, but yeah, I was at a I was at a concert.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I didn't, I don't remember what I told her, but I was like, oh, she had something else going on.
SPEAKER_00I worked in the morning. I had to work in the morning, and then we had that in the afternoon in Latrobe.
SPEAKER_05It did rain during that wedding too.
SPEAKER_01A lot. It was an it was beautiful. At one point for an hour, nobody came up to the bar. It was just raining. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, uh well. I feel like another thing that surprises me with the trailer is how good Kayla is at getting it in and out of very tough situations because we have been in some weird and bad spots, and Kayla's able to like back it in, pull it up the hill. I'm always like, I don't know how she does it, but we'll it's all good.
SPEAKER_00I have never driven a trailer before this. How I deserve a trophy. Nothing is funnier than she's like, can you park it? Or we'll get somewhere and she'll be like, I'm gonna get out, you're gonna drive Garrett's truck, and I'm like, okay, I'll I'm not doing it.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00That one spot we go to, this the stables.
SPEAKER_02We have it at the mansion this year, though, which will be fun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's the October one, right?
unknownI can't wait.
SPEAKER_00I already took the shelf one.
SPEAKER_05Is that harder to park at that one?
SPEAKER_02No, because we're up in the we'll be up at the parking lot, but we have to.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know about that location being the one of the difficult ones. Yeah, heart would ache. It's not the botanical gardens, but what's the other one like no botanical gardens was this the tough one?
SPEAKER_01Why we have a dent in the trailer.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It got a little touched up with that paint job. It doesn't need another paint job. It needs another paint job next season for sure.
SPEAKER_00Well, what if it's outdoors like that and we have Pennsylvania weather?
SPEAKER_05It's like hard. Yeah. Yeah. It's year-round.
SPEAKER_00Year round.
SPEAKER_05The only thing I would say, uh last thing about our trailer, it's like another one for all of us, but anyone that's listening always dreamed of owning a small business. Maybe not a mobile bar, especially in Pennsylvania. We don't want any more uh no more mobile bars. No more competition, please.
SPEAKER_02Actually, there's there's room.
SPEAKER_05There's we all stand on our own. What advice would you all give someone that wants to take that leap of faith and start something fresh, new?
SPEAKER_00I would say just do it.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, and don't get discouraged when things don't work out exactly how you think. We've run into that problem plenty of time. Um, but I think it's just like if you have a concept and you think it's gonna be good and you have the drive to do it, again, it ends up not feeling like work. So um, if you get into it and you're like, this is a lot of work, I actually don't like it, that's also okay too. Like remind yourself that, like, you know, it could just need reworking or, you know, some ideas are great, some ideas aren't. Um, you know, it doesn't mean that you have failed. Um, but again, it's your responsibility at the end of the day to like, okay, this is my business. I have to have drive behind it, I have to show up. I don't take the business, I don't get the money. I do take the business, I do get the money, but I gotta show up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Reputation, it all it all it all boils down. But yeah. But I say just do it.
SPEAKER_02I would agree with that. Like if you have an idea and something that if it's something that you are constantly like, oh, I should do this, I should do this, I should do this, you should give it a shot. Because every day that you delay trying, it's another day that it's nagging at you, and you're gonna regret, like, oh, I didn't go for it. I could have been doing this, I could have been doing this a year ago. So I would say, like, if you have an idea, act on it, give yourself a chance to succeed.
SPEAKER_00And it gets easier. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Helps though if you have like a trust fund baby, like the rich people.
SPEAKER_02Money, money obviously puts a lot of this at play for a lot of people, but if you have a base and you're working through it and you give yourself the time and space to get what you need so that you could be successful, you could do it.
SPEAKER_00On that note, though, we technically didn't have money.
SPEAKER_02No, we had zero money.
SPEAKER_00It was COVID. And when we started pitched in $125 job list because I got laid off. Yeah, I had not been to the same thing. Like it was we just thought I I literally had that money in my savings account, and I went, let's do it.
SPEAKER_02We literally all put $125 in to get our business license and to get everything lined up and get our bank account. And we just went for it.
SPEAKER_00And then the rest of the pieces kind of fell in place, right? Because once we actually committed to we got our business license, that it was like, okay, we gotta move on this now. What are our next steps? And they will fall together. Yes. You don't have to have necessarily have all the pieces.
SPEAKER_05Um just had to like we had to obviously get the trailer, but it took a while to get it built. Shout out Ron for making it look very, very nice. And then things started breaking, and we're calling him like, what do we do for this? How do we make this work?
SPEAKER_00Was he able to fix the um the in the front?
SPEAKER_01You fixed it.
SPEAKER_05And then we got the we got the nails, and then it was we just had to re-get the new nails. Oh, and that thing.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Oh, that's a whole other thing. We could talk off camera.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. It worked a minute.
SPEAKER_02Well, my dad gave me basically the wrong pressure ones to buy. So once they're up, they don't go back down.
SPEAKER_01So we so literally they're all the way up and you have to screw it in. And then you have to unscrew it to bring it in. It worked for the event, like it wasn't sliding down, but it's never gonna slide down, like it's not gonna close. Now she's just up. Yeah, yeah. So when we drive, you have to unscrew the sides and then bring it in.
SPEAKER_02So I'll get new ones now that I know how to do it. But see, again, we're a work in progress.
SPEAKER_01We're learning.
SPEAKER_02I mean, there's nothing, there's nothing that we can't figure out. There's nothing that we can't figure out, yeah. Um, moving on to our next kind of category, your health journey is very inspiring. I feel like the two of us have had a front seat of seeing you really transform your life and the way you eat and the way you kind of live your life in general. Can you take us back to how that journey began? You know, what changed in your mindset and how has your life changed now because of it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, so for the audience who do not know me, um, I have always been on the heavier side. Like I played sports all throughout high school, but I was always like the big kid, you know, like and it our family, we have like some slender people, but then all it's like, well, you know, like bigger families, bigger people um like have a culture and a family around food, you know, our family reunions. Oh, eating so much food, eating. I mean, like, I come from an Italian family on the other side, so it's like big family dinners. Like my Christmas dinner, I cook now, but it's like we cook enough for 40 people, and there's like seven of us. So it's like we just bond around food. It's like that's I think what I love about the culinary aspect, like realm too is like the culture, like it just brings people together. I I'm totally on board with that, but it's like I ended up um I was 350 pounds. Okay. Um, actually 354 to be exact. And um, my I mentioned earlier, my dad passed away. Um diabetes runs in our family. He had a heart attack, did not know. Um they go for testing a couple days later. He passed most of the test, but then um our family doctor at the time, still, um, he is like, let's run one more because I just want to make sure. And they found out he was like blocked every which way you could be, immediately life flyed him for emergency surgery. He dies on the way there, they resuscitate him, they get him into surgery. Um, things go good um until they weren't. Um and due to complications from that, from really bad long-term and really good care facilities, but like just a hard battle, went on dialysis, problem with his kidneys, just could never recover two years of just battling that, those issues until finally I had a stroke, you know, the brain activity, they they were real with us, like, you know, this is kind of the end of the road, and we did kind of start a health journey then because I'm like having this starting the same issues. I'm pre-diabetic, I'm like, you know, gaining weight because you you come to college, there's the freshman 15, you know, all that. But then it's like you get out there and it you get to your big girl job, and like I'm sitting at a desk. I'm like not eating the best that I could, not really taking care of myself. You know, I'm in college, you're drinking, you're having a good time with your friends, you're not really focusing on like physical health, you're just like trying to adapt to like this is how life is now. And I was just like putting on weight and having a desk job, I was just like really desk job is hard. Yeah, because you're sitting and like in high school, you're playing sports, you're moving around like what every 50 minutes, like you're at least you have so much energy. You know, you have little kids, they don't stop. Like, but you slow down as you age, and um, I stopped playing sports. Like I tried to have a little bit of a health journey, and then um I I I kind of it was my headspace, right? Like, I I started to have really bad mental health after dealing with like his passing and all that kind of stuff, and it it was, you know, the the jump of like I don't even want to say the jump, like the GLP wands are out, and people are like, oh, this is life-changing, you know, you can lose weight, you can do all these things, and like it is a game changer. And I'm starting to notice, like, okay, I'm really gaining weight because now I have this job. I travel all over the place. Sometimes I'm eating out, well, almost every meal. I'm eating maybe once a week at home because I'm at hotel to hotel to hotel. Um, and I'm like, I just can't do this anymore. This is like it's really getting bad. And you know how you start to notice, but then you kind of talk yourself out of it, right? You're like, um we get a new gym in the area, and my friends were all hanging out talking, and they're like, let's go to the Planet Fitness. And there's four of us in this group. No free ads. Yeah, no free ads. Oh, yeah. Um, but then let's join the gym. And I'm like, you know what? Yeah, let's do it. And two of the people in the group are like, no. And I'm like, I'll go. I want to start getting healthier, like, I'll go. I need to start making better decisions anyway. And I was like, I just made a doctor's appointment because I want to know more about like a GLP one, like maybe this can help me. Like, I know I'm pre-diabetic. Like, I just I need to get this taken care of because I'm starting to notice issues that my dad had. Like, I gotta change. I gotta make a change. And my mental health was so bad, I kept saying to myself, I need to do this now. And if not, like I don't know what's left for me. Like, I know what the end is. I've just seen it in front of my eyes, and it's it's not good. Um, so like we all sign up for the gym, we all make a pack, like, we'll go together, it'll be great. Yay! Um, I go to the doctor, and like she's like, um, yeah, your insurance will cover this. We kind of talked about what a GLP one was without getting going into it. It's not a magic tool. Okay. Or it's not like a magic supplement. The weight just does not fall off you. It's a tool like anything else out there. Um, I advocate for people who want to get on it. Um, I'm on an insulin-based one because again, I am pre-diabetic. And has it helped me 100%? Like I over the past three years now, um, I mean, I've lost 210 pounds. So that's incredible. Um I'm slowly bumping down off the medicine, but like I regularly go to the doctor. I'm probably gonna have to stay on this for the rest of my life because it is managing my A1C, which is, you know, the the thing, the big thing. Um, but it's like that was a pivotal turning point of like, okay, there are new ways out there, because I've tried dieting before and like nothing was working, you know, and it was just hard. And I guess seeing him basically, you know, him pass due to weight and health-related issues due to weight. Um, you know, like the number one cause of death in the United States is heart, you know. Um, and he could not recover due to all of the other issues was, you know, the diabetes and you know, his his kidneys and things like that. And he took care of himself, like insulin shots, like he really did do fine managing that, but it was the weight on top of that that, you know, it was just eye-opening for me to know that like were all the decisions up until my adult life, mine, no, not necessarily, right? Your family does what they do, you know, you learn different habits, you kind of, you know, everyone is different. Um, but I'm an adult now, and I'm like, I gotta make changes if I want a better life. And I just was not happy. Um, not that you can't be happy at any size, right? You can be healthy really at any size. You know, it's not my blood work was great at 350 pounds. Like I didn't have bad cholesterol. I didn't like, yeah. And it was like I just I had other issues that, you know, um, like, is my are all my tests and my levels fine now? Yeah, they're great. But it's like a blood test wasn't my problem. I was having, you know, some of the other things well besides yeah, free diabetes.
SPEAKER_05But you know, it's that's how I get with seeing my dad has heart problems as well now. It's now that I have kids, is watching what I eat, watching what I'm drinking, keeping myself at least on like a healthy balance because I do not want to get older and not be there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05For whenever they grow up. So it's kind of it's it's scary. It's scary to kind of go through. But when it comes to you mentioned GLP one isn't like the main fix, it's eating, it's dieting. So whenever you are um you're in culinary, you're surrounded by food. So how are you um balancing that and like kind of seeing the nutritional value of food and staying true to that healthy lifestyle?
SPEAKER_00You know, the first thing I ever learned in culinary school is like if you don't like something, nine times out of ten, it's because whoever was cooking it for you didn't actually know how to cook it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Um that's probably my problem. There's probably so many foods I would like to be. Like, oh, they're helping me through a lot of fire.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it's hysterical because learning how to cook some certain vegetables, I've never really been picky. Um, but seeing how to cook certain vegetables and like, oh, is this what a green bean is supposed to taste like? It opens you to like, you have to try everything. Like when you're cooking, especially in a professional setting, even if you don't like mayonnaise, you have to try it to make sure it tastes good.
SPEAKER_02It tastes like mayonnaise before you put it on a plate to a client.
SPEAKER_00Um, so in the culinary realm and like coming from a foodie background, it's it's helped me so much because I'm like, okay, I have to eat healthier, but this is still gonna taste good. And you know, it is about macros, it's about like the nutrition behind it, and you know, of course, your calories, if you're in a deficit, you kind of have to focus on, you know, losing weight, you have to focus there. Um, you know, but it's something that like I'll I'll give this a tidbit of advice. If you can hyperfixate on a meal, you should have a lot of success in losing weight. I have my staple meals, like um chicken enchilada pasta.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, that one's good.
SPEAKER_00Make it all the time. Found some healthier alternatives, like they have the no free ads, but brilla protein plus pasta. You can't even tell that it's not you even influenced us to buy it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you could have to do that.
SPEAKER_05Well, you would you post things online of different foods that you are making. Yeah. And then we're just like, all right, let's slide through. Let's go ahead and try this. She's given us everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I I'm trying to do better with on my fitness profile of like a lot of people recently have been saying, like, hey, do you have recipes? Can you send? I'm trying to do better on that. But like finding snacks that you like and just the studies they have recently found about consistency, even when it comes to like building muscle and weight training, it's finding the things that you like and just doing it consistently over a long period of time. It's the studies are tremendous. Look them up online. They just posted. I mean, it's been how many years since like in the health and fitness realm, they've even like touched on that kind of stuff. It's always been like program macros. But they're finding out that it's actually consistency that is like the leading component in if you want to change and actually make long-term changes.
SPEAKER_05I told Kat this was 2012, was the summer of the best shape of my life. The best shape of his life. I know. You were beefy there. I would eat the same thing every for breakfast, I would have X, Y, and Z. For lunch, I would have two lunches, I would have two dinners, and I would have a snack at the end of the day. I was eating a ton, yeah, but it was the best shape I've ever been in my entire life. And I keep saying, I'm getting back into it. I'm gonna do it again.
SPEAKER_00But you find it. Slowly rolling it back. You eat them consistently, and like if I want to go out, like we just we just crushed some smash burgers before this. It's it's it's not gonna hinder my progress because I know how I'm eating around, you know, some of those more fun meals, and like you're not eating like that for every single meal four, seven days a week.
SPEAKER_02Right. You're allowed to spoil it yourself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's about balance, and I think that's the greatest thing I've learned throughout the journey is like of course, for three years, I was strict. I'm not gonna lie. I was strict on myself. I focused on protein. I I don't want to say I wasn't eating a lot of carbs, but I wasn't eating a ton of carbs. Um, I wasn't focusing my meals around carbs. One meal a day, I'd have like, again, pasta. Hefty aren't in four portions of that. Isn't that a hefty portion? Yeah, yeah. So it's like I'm eating my lowest deficit, it was 1850 in calories a day. Now, again, I'm a nine or five nine woman, tall, height. Um, and you know, track everything in a fitness tracker, it'll tell you what to do. And I was never like starving, you know, like yeah, uh was it hard at first to like kick the sugar?
SPEAKER_02Um, I think that would be my problem. I was I yeah, and it's kids around too, and they would anything small next.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they have little kids, like hard to get around.
SPEAKER_05Lunchables, they don't want to eat both of the pizzas. And well, I'm not gonna let this go to waste.
SPEAKER_00Can't let it go to waste, can't let it go to waste.
SPEAKER_02Um no, you were strict, but it has definitely paid off. Like you could see all your progress. You should be really, really proud of yourself.
SPEAKER_00I am. It's like the world, I hate to say this, but the hard lesson was like the world does view me different now, thinner than I was bigger. And like crazy. I know. It it is like such an eye-opening thing to kind of be thrown in environment and how just like I don't want to say people treat me better, but even in the professional setting, I've met some people who I've known for like seven plus years now, and they're like introducing themselves, and I'm like, we've met multiple times. Yeah, I'm just gonna meet you. Yeah, and like the compliments are great. I love them. You know what I mean? Like, yes, please tell me I'm skinny.
unknownThank you.
SPEAKER_00Um, you know, but it's like something that like I'm realizing like I've always still been me. Yeah, your personality has not changed. Yeah, so it's like I am kind of grateful I grew up. How do I say this? I'm kind of grateful I grew up that way because it gave me a personality.
SPEAKER_02You have a really great personality.
SPEAKER_00On top of, like, I don't know. I just like I'm never gonna judge somebody based on their appearance or like I I try to view everyone I I meet as like, let's get to know you as a person, like where do you stand? Like, how do you view things? Obviously, you're gonna vibe with some people better than others, but um, you know, it's just about feeling good, making healthy choices for me. Um, and I'm willing to help anybody who asks. So it's, you know, I don't think it's like a one size fits all type of situation either. I think you have to like look at your situation and kind of go through those things. Um, but it's something that like I post on my personal page, which is just Kayla Margo, um, like snack ideas and like the protein bars I'm eating and like some recipes are on there and like what I eat in a day in a deficit. People love those videos. They reach out to me and they're like, I started buying the snack sticks and they help so much. I'm like, yeah, it's like I'm I'm losing weight. I'm eating hot dogs from Costco and like having a slim gym, like if I need one. And like, you know what I mean? It's just like changing what you're eating and staying consistent and just tracking actually, you know, everything that you're eating. You'll set yourself up for a success. And again, it's just like having a business. Everything else will fall in place. And once you get into the habit and you're consistent, it's like it doesn't even become like a chore or you know, anymore. I like look forward to like fresh vegetables and like it's summer, it's heirloom tomato season. I'm like, yes, you know what I mean. It's just like yeah, it's like appreciating, I like to eat, so um, I'm not gonna really diss any kind of food that's out there, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. So your uh lifestyle is at Kayla Vargo. Yes, no why, no, no why, but then I I we were we were doing a challenge on your other page at Kayla Grubbs, no why, three A's with a Z at the end. Yeah, I'm still full from it, but I did not know that the word was mukbong. Mukbang. I thought I was mukbang this whole time. So what drove you to doing those videos? Because they're hysterical. You mentioned the Costco one, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Your mother, my aunt.
SPEAKER_05She was just enjoying her lunch during that one. But what what kind of the wheels got turned enough getting that creative mindset to showcase your content online?
SPEAKER_00So I started watching mukbong content when I was dieting because I was like, oh man, like a chicken strip from the wing stop would hit right now. But like, I don't really want to eat that, but like they have new flavors, and like there's just there was this girl who was making videos. Her name is actually also Kayla, but it's spelled way differently.
SPEAKER_02It's like L-E-H L-E-I-G. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00G H probably um, well, I started watching her content, and I'm like, look at her smashing this burger, she's doing Pilates, she focused on her health, like she has all this kind of stuff, and I'm like, I'm traveling all around, sometimes hanging out in a hotel room by myself for like days on end. I'm like, I'm just gonna start filming myself and like having fun and you know, doing something with my time on top of you know my full-time job. Um, and I don't know, it it's just become something that now we do the challenges.
SPEAKER_02The challenges are so funny, which are so funny.
SPEAKER_00They're like rock, paper, scissors. Um, we did film one I haven't posted yet, which is can you guess blindfolded the chicken sandwich and where it's from?
SPEAKER_05Oh I can probably tell from the bun whether it's a McDonald's, but other ones, other ones, I don't know. I feel like if I held a McDonald's bun though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it I will say I am a culinary professional, so I got them all right. But um, my roommate who I did it with, he at first swapped to and I was like, oh, oh, shake up. Um, but I don't know. We're just trying to have fun. And like the food space, I think again, because I'm a foodie culinary base, I love it. Um, there's always new things to try. There's always like new menu items or new snacks. And like, I think it's just fun to I love watching those videos where I'm like, oh, Taco has a new burrito. Like, what are they saying? Like, is it worth my time? Is it not? Taco Bell.
unknownLove you. Love you.
SPEAKER_05Um even after there's controversy. Which I don't know if it was. I don't know. It was not Taco Bell. It wasn't Taco Bell. I had diarrhea from Taco Bell before that.
SPEAKER_00It wasn't.
SPEAKER_05I still ate it.
SPEAKER_00Why are we arguing if we're gonna have diarrhea from Taco Bell? We all know we're gonna have diarrhea from Taco Bell.
SPEAKER_01You know when you choose to go there that it's happening.
SPEAKER_00I need the Taco Bell for the diarrhea. Why are we arguing?
SPEAKER_06Can we say that on here? I don't know. Oh, yeah, we can say diarrhea, diarrhea, diarrhea.
SPEAKER_05So, yeah. Doing online content. My the last question, because we got other segments we're gonna keep you on for. A really good one at the end. Hopefully, Cassie, you have enough prepared for it. Fingers crushed. What would you tell uh Kayla 10 years ago of your journey of like what to look back on? What are you most proud of?
SPEAKER_00Ooh, um, I would probably tell Kayla from 10 years ago, like just don't be so hard on yourself because like life is hard. And especially when you're transitioning from like a young adult into an adult, like trying to get into your own space, you know, build a career, go to school, whatever it might be. Life is hard. And I think once you realize life is hard, it actually gets a little easier. Because like then you're like, this is hard. And I think when you're a little kid, you know, you look up to your like your aunts, your uncles, your older cousins, and like you're like, oh, when I'm that age, like I'm gonna do this and life's gonna be this way, and look, like you just romanticize how life's gonna be, and then you get you you get older and you become an adult, and you're like, shit is hard. Like we're all out here actually kind of struggling. And I think with that, it's like be patient and kind with yourself and you're gonna make mistakes, but like just keep pushing forward because yeah, like things get better, like some things might get worse, but if you kind of have stake in yourself and like show up for yourself, things do get easier, you know, and like yeah, things right now, like I could pick a thousand different things that like this um, but I also have like twice as many that I'm grateful for. You know what I mean? Like things that I've wanted my whole life that I'm like, I have it now, you know what I mean? Like dogs, and like I've always wanted it, um, like Wrangler was a dream car. I now have a gladiator, which is like the best of the worlds, you know. So it's like things I'm just so grateful for that, like it don't be stuck in that negative mindset because mental health, it could it could really trap you. But like just keep staying grateful, stay consistent, and like look, look at all the beautiful things you have.
SPEAKER_05I think mental health hits everyone differently. And then when you realize that, yeah, then you can realize that I'm not I'm not the only one that has something going on with them. Once you start to realize that everyone that kind of deals with their own issues, handle your own, don't compare yourself to anyone else's problems or not problems.
SPEAKER_00Be gracious with other people because nine times out of ten, they're also not trying to be malicious either. Yeah, and it it's just you know, have your boundaries, stay firm on those, but at the end of the day, you know, look out for yours and it like things are gonna be okay. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. Everything's gonna be okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay. All right.

SPEAKER_05All right, story segment. Story segment. Normally we tell a dramatic story. When we have a guest on, we tell multiple stories that are outside of our purview. These ones are personal stories since we have Kayla family. Yeah. All right. Our first one, everyone will answer. Okay. This is what is the spookiest or scariest thing that has ever happened to you? Who wants to go first?
SPEAKER_02I can go first because mine's fresh in my mind. Fresh. Okay. I don't think I've talked about this on the pod yet. I was postpartum probably like six or seven months postpartum. You go six, seven. Damn, I put myself in that situation. Um, you always would go to the gym. You were working remote, I was working remote. I'm like, okay. You're like, I'm going to the gym. I'm like, okay, I'm going to jump in the shower. Tyson was taking a nap. You leave, I hear the door shut. I get in the shower, and not maybe like two or three minutes into my shower, I hear the door open and close, and then I hear footsteps up the stairs. And I like stop the shower. I put on my towel, and I thought it was you because I'm like, hey, I'm like, why are you back so soon? I thought you were going to the gym, like thinking you forgot something. And then I walk out into the living room, I look around, and there's like nobody in the living room. But like I could hear you like walking up the stairs, it sounded like your voice talking, like if you were on the phone. And I was like, that was so weird. So then I called you and I'm like, hey, are you at the gym? And you're like, yeah, why? What's going on? I was like, I swear to God, I just heard you open and close the door and walk up the stairs. Like it was like the normal sound that you hear.
SPEAKER_00You call those like mimics with the case. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I was freaked out. I like went back in the shower, finished, like, got Tyson up from his nap and was just like, what the literal hell just happened? Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Maybe you busted one of the dogs like talking and human and it sounded like a dog walking up the stairs.
SPEAKER_02You can't explain it in a movie like that. Like I heard it was like your footsteps. It sounded like as if you were on the phone talking to someone, and I'm walking down the hallway and I can like still hear it. And I'm like, Garrett, why are you back? It still freaks me out. When I think about it, I'm like, I was pumping weight. I don't know what that was. I literally is still, I thought it was like a blip in the matrix or something where like maybe in another timeline he was walking in the door. It was the strangest thing. Okay. That was my story.
SPEAKER_05I have one. This is back of my house growing up. It was definitely haunted. There were main issues, but I'll talk about more of like it's scary, but it's kind of funny. It's the ghost of Del Arnhardt that invaded coming up the steps. I was it was late night. I had the TV on, a tube TV in my room, and they were talking about Del Arnhardt Jr. This is maybe five years after Del Arnhardt Sr. had passed.
unknownR IP.
SPEAKER_05R.I.P. raise raise hell, raise Del. And in my mind, no one's up but me, I was walking out to go use the restroom. And when I was walking out to the restroom, as soon as you walk out of my door, the steps go up to the upstairs. I'm saying to myself, like, oh, Del Jr. never live up to Del Sr.'s expectations or something. Like, but I also rip Del Sr.
SPEAKER_01In the middle of getting up to go to the bathroom.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, middle of getting up, going to the bathroom. I get out of my room, look down the steps, and it is none other than Del Wernhardt Sr. in his fire suit.
SPEAKER_00Heard you talking smack. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05And he's he's walking up the stairs, and then all of a sudden it was a gush of ghosts coming right towards me, and I beelined it for the bathroom right now. But it happened. No one believes me. He's like, it was there.
SPEAKER_00I believe you.
SPEAKER_05And it's just after the rivalry that me and my dad had with Del Wernhardt and Jeff Gordon.
SPEAKER_00And then the house next door.
SPEAKER_05Oh, yeah. There was there was definitely some haunting things. Something going on around that area. And there's other spooky things that happened there, like a uh bang on my window, but I wasn't in my room. I was down the street. And when I was in that room, this at the same time I was hearing like clickety clackety on the window. Ooh. I don't know what. I hate ghosts. Yeah, we don't have that home anymore. They sold it years ago, thank goodness, because it was haunted.
SPEAKER_00My story. We lived in an apartment in college that was haunted.
SPEAKER_02Oh my gosh, you have told me some of these.
SPEAKER_00Yes. And boil it down, long story short, I know I can be long-winded. Um we can never keep a root roommate in the bottom half. There were four rooms, two upstairs, two downstairs, and then like a middle flat. The ones who would live in like the two downstairs room, I mean constant like anger, aggression, like craziness. Like it was great when they moved in, and then a couple months in it was like irritable, right? So we end up losing a roommate, a new one moves in. We actually had to like go to the front office and be like, we have a room if somebody wants to come live with us. They moved this kid in with us. His name was Omar. Shout out Omar, he was the coolest roommate ever. Um he had a friend come stay the night. We actually are on vacation, me and me and Zach. Um we had another roommate named Laura, little blonde-haired girl. Okay. So Omar has a friend come up, his friend's sleeping in the living room, which is like the middle floor, and he wakes up to the cabinet doors opening and shutting, opening and shutting, and he's like, What the heck? And he like looks up, and we had like an island that like separated the living room from the kitchen, and he's like, Laura, what are you doing? Because he sees this little blonde-haired girl, and he's like kind of drowsy, and then he gets up off the couch as like the little girl walks to the steps, but then he realizes that's not Laura, and this thing just flies down the steps. Okay, chills, chills, packs up his stuff and leaves, sends a text to Omar, like, I'm out of here. Your place is haunted. Okay. We didn't want to tell Omar because we don't want him to leave, and we knew this was happening because my mom would come over, family friends, they'd hear people walking upstairs. Nobody's up there, it's just us. Um so we're getting ready to move out. And we had lived there for like four years.
SPEAKER_01I remember you telling me this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we had made friends with like the spirits, and like I was the kooky one, like, I don't care if you're here, like I'll mind my business, you mind yours. I had this giant three-foot stuffed sock monkey that I got in New York City. It like went with me everywhere in college. It would like be on my bed, but then be in the middle of the floor, or like things would be moved. Okay. So I would always say, like, I don't care if you play with this, cool with me, and just like put it back or whatever. Um, we're getting ready to leave, but things are like chaotic. We're packing up and like things are going missing. My bathroom ends up getting like destroyed, like a tornado went through it. Like, I'm having sleep paralysis. So finally we're like, Thank goodness we're out of here. Literally, four days later, it is a town home, it's a string of townhomes. We're literally the one center in the middle. Our town home goes up in flames. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's all I gotta say. I would elaborate more, but it was definitely haunted. I think the spirit was so mad that you guys moved out that they were just comfortable with you. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was wanting to sit and have popcorn with you and watch like some fun movies, maybe watch friends or the other.
SPEAKER_00Find out later, like that whole area I think was like built over a cemetery or something. Yes, you told me that. Um, and a little girl had died there.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02So it was probably just her tormenting people. Scary. I do remember you telling me this, like when I probably close to when I first met you, and I I was like, I do not like ghosts. Don't I don't want to talk about it?
SPEAKER_00You know, I'm like, I was haunted. I was almost possessed.
SPEAKER_05What about whenever? I don't know if you ever, I feel like we've had these conversations, but when we would dog sit and house sit at Rosell's, hit Bella Belly.
SPEAKER_00One time Garrett floated, levitated, levitated. We were so scared to stay in this house, we were dog sitting, so we would make the other one stay with us, like partner tag team. And so scared, we were like, okay, we're we're both sleeping in this room. Yeah. I woke up, he was levitating off the bed.
SPEAKER_06And I fell.
SPEAKER_00He fell. We woke up. Woke up, screamed.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was the craziest.
SPEAKER_05And then anytime be it was before that, Bella Biscuit, Bella Biscuit would bark in like the middle of the night, and it was that's when I was, I can't do this by myself. I gotta have other people here.
SPEAKER_00We've talked to them that live there.
SPEAKER_05They're like, I'm like, yeah, we openly talked to them, and they were like, no. Remember one, it was maybe after the fact I had to go grab something by myself and going back up the stairs. I thought of presents behind me like chasing me up the stairs.
SPEAKER_00Levitated.
SPEAKER_05I levitated. He has goosebumps. I have goosebumps. Look at this. Look at that. It's real. That and Dell Earnhardt, real. Mainly the other one. Maybe not like Dell was real, but like maybe he was just saying hello. Oh, ghosts freak me out. Wedding broadcast here. I got so many. The craziest thing that you've seen at a wedding, whether you have worked it, attended it, or you were a part of the craziness.
SPEAKER_02Oh, there's so many. Craziest. I would say for me, one of the craziest. I don't know if I would say it's the craziest thing, but when I worked at the History Center, we always would say there was like ghosts in the building. This deals with ghosts, but it also deals with crazy. And my team was in charge of the sound for this wedding, and I remember us like everything was good, the whole wedding's set up. We're like golden ready to go, and we're getting ready. And like, first the elevator stops working, and it's like stops in the middle, and like the couple's on the elevator, and I'm like, oh god. Starts working, we're good. They get onto the floor, we're about to do the ceremony, and just like all of our equipment, like music equipment, just stops working. Like it was just like dead. The screens are black, and I'm like, what are we supposed to do? Like, there is no DJ, it was our team doing the music, and like the girl that's running the music's like, it's not working, it's not working. So she gets it working, and then we're like letting people go down for the processional, and then I let the bride go down. I hear her music, I let the bride go down. I go out onto the other side and I'm like, Okay, everything's good. And then I don't hear any music. And the bride's just standing at the end of the aisle. All of our systems have gone down. Like the lights are on, but like the screens are black on all of the iPads, the screens are black on the phone, it won't plug into the system, the system's plugged into power, the power will not turn on, and we're like, um, and then the bride's just like at the end of the aisle, and she was like, Fuck it, we're already married. And she like literally walks down the aisle and everybody's like cheering for her and clapping, and like, and then by the time the wedding was over and that we had to play the recessional music, the sound came back on. I was like, What?
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's like worst case scenario.
SPEAKER_02It was I felt so bad for the bride. So then, like, I had to call my boss and be like, we need to refund them something. Like, I'm gonna talk to them. And I go to them after the ceremony. I'm like, I'm so sorry that happened. Like, we do not know what happened. It was like a malfunction with our equipment. Like, we had everything set, everything was downloaded. It's not like we weren't connected to the Wi-Fi and it wasn't working, like everything just turned off. Like, there was no power to those systems. And she was like, the bride was so cool, she's like, Yeah, it's fine. Like, we were already married two years ago. It was like a COVID wedding party, and she they were so laid back and cool about it, they did not like complain or say anything. But in my mind, it was one of those things I literally wanted to crawl under a rock and just be like, I don't work here.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It was terrible.
SPEAKER_05Mine isn't necessarily like a wedding. It it happened at a wedding, but it happened after the wedding. It was at my sister's two years ago now, and my cousin on the opposite side, uh, Brandon. We're leaving. We took the shuttle bus back to the hotel. It's more funny than crazy. But so we go to the shuttle back and we're talking with him, like, oh, are we like gonna you guys want to keep having a couple more drinks before we go to bed? He was like, Yeah, sure. I'll um just hit me up, whatever. Like, perfect, we'll do. We get back to the room, and then he texts me and gives me the room number that he's at. So I thought. So I get a room number and I go in and it's a bunch of older women hanging out. And I'm pranking he pranked me. I was I'm in there for like 10 minutes with all of these ladies having drinks with them. They were also at the wedding, and I'm like, So where's where's Brandon at? And they're like, Brandon, who? Like my cousin. It's like it's like you ass so he he was we got off on maybe the second floor, and he was the third or fourth floor, and those ladies were in the hotel or in the elevator with us. But after we got off, they were saying to each other, let's meet in this room number. And Brandon heard that and instantly texted me that room number and had me uh go and party with them.
SPEAKER_00That's actually the best thing I've ever heard by entirely.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, that was hilarious.
SPEAKER_00We need more harmless pranks like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. The fact that he just went in, like sitting on the couch, like, where's Brandon?
SPEAKER_04They probably shot like it's Carrie's brother. Why is he here?
SPEAKER_00You're just hanging out, hanging out, having a good time.
SPEAKER_04It's not as bad as uh Aunt D. That's another crazy one. We'll share that another time. Another time.
SPEAKER_00I don't necessarily have any crazy stories. I guess the one crazy one was actually the clink event we were working, and that guy was like would not leave me alone. Oh, yeah. And they're like, come on, come out here, like, come hang out with us. And I'm like, why won't this guy leave me alone? He's like, just for 10 seconds, and I get out there. It's just a giant weed circle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, I have to leave, I have to leave. Um, so they like tried to trap me in this weed circle, and it's like, imagine 15 people all with a joint in like a parking parking lot. He would not leave you alone. And he would not leave me alone. It was actually kind of scary. Um, thank God we got in and out of there quick because he was like walking back, and I was like, time to go. And we were in that really hard spot to park the trailer. So I was like, no, hook it up. We're out.
SPEAKER_02That man would not leave you alone. He kept coming up and just like trying to hit on Kayla, not even getting drinks, and we're like, please leave us alone.
SPEAKER_00He did tip us good though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they did, he did give a good tip.
SPEAKER_00Like, get back out there then, get back in that circle. Another really funny wedding thing that was like bizarre I've ever seen was a TikTok. And they were, I think they were renewing their vows. I sent it to you and Goob and Cody, I think. Um, but it was like theme wedding, vampire, vampira, vampira, I think they're on there. And I'm waiting, like the groom walks down and they're playing like all this like emo music, and I'm like waiting for the bride. How did I not notice a makeshift casket on the ground and she got out?
SPEAKER_06Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um look that up on TikTok. It is the greatest thing. It is so funny.
SPEAKER_05What's even whenever like Madison Humphrey, she'll do her videos and like reenact a lot of weddings. Yeah, they're funny. All right, last one since we are family. We just came back from her side of the family's family reunion. Favorite family reunion memory. Oh, mine isn't traditionally, it's obviously like get plop is always a best memory when you win it, when you lose it. I kind of get hurt, like female. Worst defeat. I can lose a basketball game, I can lose a baseball game, I can lose a football game, I cannot get a role in a show. But if I lose plop, I'm more upset about that than any of those.
SPEAKER_00We also have over 30, under 30 kickball, which we haven't played in a while.
SPEAKER_05It always gets cancelled.
SPEAKER_00We don't really have that many under-30s left.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, not that many. And if we did play, I want to change it to like over 40, under 40, so we can we would kind of crush. We still would crush. Yeah, you guys would crush. Best one I would like was recently was at your mom's house whenever we were just enjoying lunch, plop was that day, and the kickball tournament, which got canceled because of the rain.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But we're all just holding the tent viciously.
SPEAKER_00Oh, because it's like tornado comes through.
SPEAKER_05Then Uncle Mike, as it's pouring down rain, makes an announcement. All right, everybody, Plop starts in five minutes.
SPEAKER_00I think my favorite family reunion memory is actually when you had to dress up as a girl.
SPEAKER_05Oh, it was like the talent show? The talent show. Oh gosh.
SPEAKER_00And he dressed up, he had a TR on and a green dress. I won. I believe rap dress. And he won. He won the talent show, family talent show.
SPEAKER_05Grind it on Tim, who is not blood related.
SPEAKER_00Throw that out there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, not blood related.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Shout out Tim. There you go.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I would always then after I did that, every plop event, I would have to like kiss Tim Robbie.
SPEAKER_00Do Philarians have a theme?
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_00Ours do. Sometimes. Sometimes. They haven't been lately. Well, my mom's was like, what, Mexican taco theme? Yeah. Um, the one before that, like, we've had space theme. We've had like your guys' is like 70s.
SPEAKER_05Kind of one day for like your baby. Our family does Saturday high fever in the picture.
SPEAKER_02So it's like three or four days long. So there's no theme. It's more just like things.
SPEAKER_05Who is your favorite memory of this past reunion thing?
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say I have two that come to mind. They both involve you. Um, the one would be in Tybee Island when we did karaoke night. Oh, yeah. And it was Parents' Night Out. I was pregnant, so like I was sober witnessing all of this, and we're deep in karaoke. All my cousins are getting up singing songs, and then Garrett gets up and he sings Neon Moon first. And you're a good singer, so like there's girls. I did three songs. There's girls like up in the front videoing and like he's gonna be the next country music star.
SPEAKER_01And then lastly, he gets up and sings Proud to Be an American.
SPEAKER_02And when I tell you, people were standing up, holding their hearts, taking their hats off, giving him a standing ovation.
SPEAKER_01Thanking me after.
SPEAKER_02Thanking you.
SPEAKER_01He finished the song, and people were like, Wow, screaming, like I've never witnessed anything like this.
SPEAKER_05No one can go after me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was one of the funniest things I have ever seen.
SPEAKER_05And then while we were in Tybee Island, I knew I knew the demographic that we're that was gonna be behind me.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's true. Like, I gotta put on some league green. I guess I can't say anything. If I'm going to karaoke, I'm picking Sister Act. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_00So that maybe that's my vibe.
SPEAKER_05I did it for the Steelers playoff game. I went to Wannabee's out in the back of Tequila Cowboy, and I sang the Here We Go Steelers fight song. It wasn't a karaoke option. Just like play a fight Steelers Here We Go Steelers. I'll shut this place down. Yeah. It wasn't as big as no.
SPEAKER_02I'm telling you, when I saw that, and then the other one that was really funny was we did like another Parents Night episode. Out, but we just went to the pool, and we're all 30. Well, some of my cousins are like 25, so 25 to like 40 is our age range. We're acting like we're like teenagers who like stole a bottle of vodka or like getting drunk at the pool. The lifeguards just glaring at us. We're riding down the slide in like groups of two and three.
SPEAKER_05Chad and I kept doing different, like we would be back to back to each other. I was Superman and he was on my back another time.
SPEAKER_01We're pretending I was pretending I was Neil the Seal and just like rolling around on the pool deck. Like it was just so stupid. That would probably be like another funny memory.
SPEAKER_05Reunions are always a good time to get people together. We haven't had one. We had one in Colorado last year, none this year. Maybe next year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, hopefully next year. I was kind of sad. Yeah. I couldn't go to Colorado.
SPEAKER_05All right, these are wedding food hot takes. It would be a basically this or that. Got it. On which one you would prefer. So a buffet versus a plated dinner.
SPEAKER_02Buffy.
SPEAKER_05I like a buffet. Buffet is just easier.
SPEAKER_02Casual, more options.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Plated, I feel like I don't have an opportunity to get seconds for a buffet. Once everyone goes through, hey, maybe I want some more.
SPEAKER_02And you're stuck in your seat, I feel like, for a plated buffet. You can like get up and chat once you're done eating or got your plate.
SPEAKER_05And plated, you might find yourself getting chicken or beef, where if it's buffet, you might get it.
SPEAKER_00I'm also a visual person. So if I put on the card I want chicken, but then the steak comes out, I'm gonna be like, no. Yeah. Where buffet, it's like, oh, and maybe you can be a little bit more picky of like, oh, I actually don't like this, but I like that, and gives you an option where everyone's happy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Usually, like, yeah, I fill up that plate. Signature cocktails, worth it or not? Yes. I think we just did the last trailer event. It was the Percy Palmer. Yeah, that was a very particular in how I say it. It was a kept calling.
SPEAKER_01I was like, this guy came up and was like, can I have the pussy pal?
unknownI'll just start laughing at it.
SPEAKER_05But they like put the cat as the master. Very nice. It's an Arnold Palmer Latrobe.
SPEAKER_00I love a signature drink. And if you want bar service, it's the way to go. Because half the time nobody even knows what they want to drink. Yeah. You'll spend way less money as a couple, like if you're having a like, you know, front for the bar. Because hey, I'm just buying the signature drink and a few other things, so cost effective. And half the time, if you have it, like it just makes things go smoother, quicker, cleanup, setup, all of it.
SPEAKER_02I do have to say, if the catering company is going to charge you $9 per signature drink outside of your open bar price, it's not worth it. Pick a drink that you can make from the items on the menu. Yeah. But if you're providing the supplies or you can build anything and it's not like an extra cost, I would say 100%. You could personalize it, it's fun, easy enhancement.
SPEAKER_05And the last one we did was beer, wine, seltzers, or the Percy Palmer. Usually, if they're trying to have a mixed drink and they see a signature, they're gonna at least try it. Yeah. Yeah. If we have other options besides that as like a cocktail drink, they might just go back to it because it's easier. We already have the mixtures. They might run out of a jack and coke. Ooh. This is very contingent. I know my answer late night pizza or a taco bar.
SPEAKER_00Pizza.
SPEAKER_02Pizza.
SPEAKER_05Late night pizza for sure. I don't care if there's anchovies on it.
SPEAKER_00Taco feels messy for late night.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Tacos at a wedding, I think, are a little bit messy. Like, not that I don't love that.
SPEAKER_00Pizza, you can one hand and still be on the dance floor. Like, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like an appetizer empanada, though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, remember Nemicolons where they had the late night pizza? That very good hit. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Nemicolen wedding. Can't beat that. The uh wedding cake versus dessert or cookie tables. I'm a cookie table fan.
SPEAKER_00I'm also a cookie table fan. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I even prefer anything but cake for birthdays. Like not anything bunt cakes. I mean, I do love anything bunt cake. No frillettes. Very good. They were at that last time. They were very good. I just cake to me, I like it, but if you give me other options, even a cupcake.
SPEAKER_02I like when they do like a small cake so that they can have their moment with their wedding cake, because I do like that moment. But it's nice from a guest perspective to have a lot of uh different options for sweets.
SPEAKER_00I like the cookie table because then it's like also a favor. Like I get to take this home, especially if it's like a cute little box or package you get like to take with you.
SPEAKER_02A two for one.
SPEAKER_00You get home the next day, you're like reminiscing on the wedding, and then you're looking at the pictures and you're posting the stuff. It just it helps like make the full like bring the weekend together almost like the event together. It's like really nice.
SPEAKER_05Give me a nice little lady like at the end. Brunch weddings. Love them. Should we be doing more of them? Love them. I loved it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Like a little pancake, French toast, and then a nice little chicken.
SPEAKER_02Brunch food. Yeah. Then you have the rest of the day.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Like I think from like the couple's perspective, on a normal wedding day, you sometimes don't see your partner until 4 or 5 p.m. If you get married in the morning, let's say 10 a.m., you're together the whole day. Yeah. Partying it up.
SPEAKER_00The only drawback to that is like we've done a few wedding weekends where they've gotten married early and been there all day. By 4 p.m., your people are tired.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like you need a nap. You need to account for a nap. Yeah. At least maybe like two hours of like we don't have anything scheduled. People go back, reset, even shower, and then you come back for like dinner, late night stuff.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, brunch, wedding, brunch meal, like morning wedding, brunch meal, nap, dance party. Yeah, you need a nap.
SPEAKER_00I need a nap. Did you nap today?
SPEAKER_05Ice sculptures are they a must?
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_05No.
SPEAKER_02I don't think so. I think if you have ice sculpture, I think they put goldfish down. I do think if your thing is interactive and you've saved it in your budget, it is a very cool enhancement. But is it a must? No. No, absolutely not.
SPEAKER_00I know how to ice carve. Um it's stupid expensive. Yes. And to me, I'm like, if you you can't save it, it's ice, it melts. Like it, it's it's gonna look beautiful at the start, but then by the end, it's just like melted on the water. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Um, you use some magic and it turns into Olaf or I don't know. Find find a magician. That might work out. Donut walls for a dessert. Is this a great option? Bad option. I hate them. Hate them.
SPEAKER_00Can I be indifferent here?
SPEAKER_05You can.
SPEAKER_00Like I it wouldn't be my thing, but there are people that ride hard for donuts. So maybe for them, yeah. And if you're doing like maybe picnic style wedding where it's not really like fancy or upscale, donut wall could be in your realm of like we have the donut wall and then a little bit of cookies, you know, kind of graze as you please.
SPEAKER_02I feel like donuts in general could be good for like a dessert display or something. But when it's hanging up on the wall, I've noticed that people are scared to grab it, they don't want to ruin it, and then nobody eats them. So you're just wasting a bunch of donuts. But if they're like out on a platter, then I'm like, yeah, people take them. But I'm there.
SPEAKER_05I can't put that on a donut wall.
SPEAKER_00They put lots of things on walls for weddings. Yeah, that was like a thing. It was like definitely champagne wall. Yeah. Yeah. Even champagne walls.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, eh.
SPEAKER_00To me, I'm also indifferent, but people are more inclined to grab champagne than they are donut.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I do peek at the champagne wall before it's time to like go up for dinner. One of the last ones up. Like, how many are still there? I can take, I can take five real quick.
SPEAKER_00Setting up a champagne wall is sucks. Sucks.
SPEAKER_05All right. Speaking of champagne, this will be the last one. Champagne toasts are a waste of money. I'm gonna agree on that. I think they're a waste.
SPEAKER_02I think everyone there, if it's not built into your package, it's like six to eight dollars per person. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Which I'm like, half the people don't drink it. And it's just sitting there a lot of time, unless you pour it right before the toast, it's warm when you go to toast with it. So I would say toast with what's in your glass.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because what's wrong with that? It's to me, it's about the sentiment, not the if the champagne is there, I'm drinking it. But like Oh, we're not turned away champagne.
SPEAKER_05But if someone at the table doesn't want that, say bring it over here.
SPEAKER_02Also, if you're like, I need to cut $900 from my budget, cut the champagne toast.
SPEAKER_05And you don't have to rent the flutes. And if you want champagne for yourself as a couple or for just even your bridal party, your parents, you can do that. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_05Not the whole thing.
SPEAKER_00I know people who do like shots as the toast.
SPEAKER_05Smart.
SPEAKER_02Our friend did that. Remember they did a lemoncello shot at the seat? Alexa.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And to me, I'm like, oh, this is actually kind of nice because it's not a full beverage. Like shots are way easy to pour and distribute. Oh, heck yeah. Yeah. So maybe we're a nice little shot.
SPEAKER_05All right. This is VIP table. Kayla's with us. Paula Dean, who would you like to be?
SPEAKER_02Um Big Red.
SPEAKER_05Okay. I don't know who I am. Keith Urban again. Growing up, uh, and even I'm in my mid-30s and I still quote Spongebob non-stop. Kayla. Quote Spongebob.
SPEAKER_00I can do this all day.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All day.
SPEAKER_05Sometimes I catch myself and I'm strictly, not necessarily just SpongeBob, but anything that is in my lingo. Most of my lingo is movie. Austin Powish Faja. Like that stuff too. So this is gonna be Spongebob quotes. This is not SpongeBob quotes. It's Spongebob SquarePants. The show. The show quotes. As a whole.
SPEAKER_00I went, I mean, you know how some people say like deep tracks? I went, I went hard on this.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I went, I went on Reddit. I went on TikTok.
SPEAKER_00I know I know it was like build a list. I I picked 24. And that was me narrowing it down. But I do have my top four.
SPEAKER_05I am nine, so I'm glad I'm going first. Plenty of honorable mentions at the end. Cassie, you may go first. And if you want to I got it. Say it in the ways. Say it in the way. If not, that's fine too. We'll do it for you.
SPEAKER_02Ready? My first one. Ravioli, ravioli, give me the formules. It's on the list. It's on the list. It's on the list.
SPEAKER_01Robot, robot, Mr. Krabs. That was like the one thing that came to my mind first. I'm like, okay, I always say that I'm putting that one.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be really hard because I want to come back at you with the Spongebob quote, but I'm like, keep moving the baby.
SPEAKER_06You can do like a song with it, too. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00My brain went, do do do do do do.
SPEAKER_03He's a robot. He's a robot.
SPEAKER_05All right. My first pick, whenever he goes down to rock, bottom. And it's I can't understand your accent.
SPEAKER_04He's like, uh, next bus to bikini bottom.
SPEAKER_00Why don't you just say so?
SPEAKER_06Next bus leaves in five seconds.
SPEAKER_04Outstanding, outstanding episode.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Mine, uh, let me set the scene. You too as well. Oh, I do too. Okay. Um, the first one is when Squidward and Squillium are having it out. Okay. And um Squidward actually thinks to himself, try picturing him with it in his underwear. And then he panics and goes, Oh no, he's hot. That's one of my favorite scenes. I Squillium fancy bands. Okay. And the show is so funny. The other one, um, when SpongeBob is buying a bunch of things for Mr. Krabs because he has a crush on Mrs. Puff. And he goes, We're not talking about this or this. We're talking about this. And he's doing all the things. Uh yeah. Spongebob B-boy, you can't be spending all me money.
SPEAKER_06That's not my thing. That's that's not even on my list.
SPEAKER_05This is from the like Krusty Crab like documentary. And the guy's like, it sounds like a lot of hoopla. Sounds like a lot of hoopla.
SPEAKER_04Sounds like a lot of hoopla. All right, guess go ahead.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'm up again. Oh, I get two. Okay. This is one of my favorite Patrick quotes, but like somebody calls into the crusty crab and they're like, Is this the crusty patch crab?
SPEAKER_01And he's like, No, this is Patrick.
SPEAKER_06Oh, you're not a crusty crab.
SPEAKER_02Um, and then my other favorite is when they're blowing the bubbles. No, not the bubbles. They're using the jellyfishing.
SPEAKER_01Jellyfishing, yep.
SPEAKER_02And he's like, firmly grasp it.
SPEAKER_01Firmly grasp it. And it's like stabs him.
SPEAKER_02Okay, he squirms in his cats. And he's like, Patrick's doesn't.
SPEAKER_05Oh, God. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Wow, I got my top three. Okay. I'm gonna survive this. I thought I'd be out.
SPEAKER_05I thought um, I honestly was gonna like give you some opportunity to snag this. I gotta bring it right back to me. It is the chocolate lady. I remember when that's on my list.
SPEAKER_06It was on my list. Sweet, sweet.
SPEAKER_02I thought Kathy was gonna have that one for sure. I always it was number six.
SPEAKER_00It was number six. So um I'm gonna have to go with um Spongebob boating school. Sagas, just all around. But he could never pass the test for me. Never. And he like goes through this whole thing, like crashes the boat. It's a whole thing. Mrs. Puff's all puffed up. And he's like, and what's my final score? And she's like, six. And he's like, ooh, and what do I need to pass? And she's like, six. And he's like, ooh, and then she comes and she's like, hundred.
SPEAKER_01What?
SPEAKER_06You got six.
SPEAKER_05Mrs. Puff. She's a criminal.
SPEAKER_00She's a criminal.
SPEAKER_05She's a criminal.
SPEAKER_00I would gonna have to say my last one is just my favorite part. It happens in a lot of episodes. Well, I shouldn't say a lot, but um, it's just when they've done something for too long and they're like three days there. One eternity later. So much later that the old narrator quit and like six o'clock. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Six o'clock, twelve o'clock, midnight.
SPEAKER_06This is during the when they do sweet victory and they're practicing, and the fish is speaks up, he says, Well, maybe we wouldn't be so bad if some people didn't play with such big meaty claws. What did you say, punk? Big meaty claws. Well, these claws ain't just for attracting mates.
SPEAKER_01Tyson repeats that now. I've run that.
SPEAKER_05All right, the last pick. There's a ton from that one. No, it just did my fourth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I'm in the middle.
SPEAKER_02Mine's on free balloon day when they steal the balloons.
SPEAKER_01And then the people are like, if you can't do the time, then don't do the crime. And they put them in and then they open it up, they're like, All right, time's up. All right, time's up. Every time I put my dog in the table, I go, all right, time up. That would have been my last pick.
SPEAKER_05It's a good pick. The other, the one I was like indifferent on, it's one word. It's the character shows up one time. Maybe in the newer episodes, it shows up when the Alaskan bullworm herd falls and lands and goes, Ouch.
SPEAKER_01I almost felt like crusty crap pizza. Yeah. I was trying not to do like the main.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, like this is a load of barnacles.
SPEAKER_00Soyonette. Soyonnette. I thought you might have had that. We say that a lot.
SPEAKER_06Careful split rob.
SPEAKER_00Careful spirit bum. Um weast. I was hoping that would pop up.
SPEAKER_06You didn't send it to W for Wumbo.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Or uh it's the man Ray. He's like, aren't you Patrick Star? Yep. Yep. And this is your wallet. Yep. I found this wallet. Or is this not your ID? I found this ID in this wallet. Okay. And this is your wallet. Yeah. So this must be yours. So take the wallet. It's not my wallet. Um Little, Little, Little. Little. The Little, Little.
SPEAKER_02Do you guys the one that I had written down that I was like, I don't remember what the actual quote was, but it's when he's like, Do you smell that smell? That smells. That smelly smell.
SPEAKER_01That's smelly. I was like, I couldn't remember the actual thing, but I remembered like that part.
SPEAKER_06Stepping on the beach.
SPEAKER_00I also like the one where the writing is on the dumpster and it's like Squidward smells. And he's like, Good.
SPEAKER_05I had Doodle Bomb when Mano, may Manoy and You know what we didn't say?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm dirty Dan.
SPEAKER_04That wasn't on my list either. I missed a lot. There's so many good ones.
SPEAKER_05Or uh Plankton. Goodbye, everyone. I'll remember you all in therapy. It would have taken a long. I'll just do the opening also from the Krusty Crab documentary. It's whenever it's finally time for the Krusty Crab to come or the Krabby Patty. It's like dum dun dum dum dum dum dum dun dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum.
SPEAKER_03And my repair's like you always do that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's so funny. There's a there's probably a lot that'll more that we left off the list. We're big SpongeBob.
SPEAKER_00SpongeBob SpongeBob fans. One of my favorite memories with Garrett of all time, we're going to a haunted house and they shuttle us from the parking to where the haunted house was. And as soon as the lights cut out, it's dead silent. You just hear Garrett go, Where's the leak? Ma'am. And we laugh for like 20 minutes straight. Um, I don't know why, what even prompt you to say it, but lights out, bus full of families. Garrett just screams, Where's the leak?
SPEAKER_05It's part of my vocabulary. It's just there now. And it's such a millennial thing growing up. So, like a lot of people, they don't let their kids watch Spongebob. He was number one. It is the newer ones, don't watch them. They're kind of weird. They're very well, some people might want to watch them. No, don't watch them. Watch the old classics. They're available on probably like Paramount Plus. Every single one. The kids kind of get into it. Kind of don't. But no free ads Spongebob.
SPEAKER_00Shaped us as a generation, I think. I'd say.
SPEAKER_05And not quotes, but the songs. Of any TV show, cartoon TV show might be the best songs. Best songs. Rip pants, campfire song.
SPEAKER_00C-A-M-P-F-I-R-Fun.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. I don't know the other one. F is when we worked at Amelia Island. We made a poolside dance to the jellyfish jam. Yeah. And no one knew it but us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, too many bops.
SPEAKER_05Too many, but maybe on our way out of here, we'll throw on some ripped pants.
SPEAKER_02I listened to that the other day in the car.
SPEAKER_05By yourself.
SPEAKER_02No, Bennett was like rip pants. Rip pants.
SPEAKER_05I tend to listen to it by myself, to be honest. All right. All right. Well, that wraps up this episode. I'm gonna watch SpongeBob later. Kayla, thank you so much for joining us.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for having me. This was so fun.
SPEAKER_02And we know you have a cookbook you've been working on, right? Up and coming. You want to plug that?

Um so I cookbook, but like more like a downloadable PDF. A cooking guide. Cooking guide. Yeah. Love that. SPEAKER_00And a Z. Uh so make sure you follow her.
SPEAKER_05Subscribe when she gets YouTube. She's looking at doing a YouTube.
